Item description for Living in God's Embrace: The Practice of Spiritual Intimacy by Michael Fonseca...
Overview Getting started and staying on the right path in your spiritual journey isn't always easy. It requires hard work and perseverance to develop an intimate relationship with God. Michael Fonseca, an experienced spiritual director and retreat leader, knows well the difficulties that can arise on the spiritual journey, but he also knows the graces that can come to the ardent seeker. In Living in God's Embrace, he offers his insights from years of working with Christian seekers, and provides readers with a road map for their own spiritual journeys. The true starting point in a healthy spiritual life, he says, is to begin by emphasizing God's love for us more than our love for God. Only after our hearts have been inundated with God's bountiful love and mercy will we reciprocate God's love for us through a life of generous and faithful service. Arranged into six chapters, each made up of a brief introductory section and ten prayer exercises, this book guides readers through the ups and downs of the spiritual journey and provides encouragement to stay on the path toward God. The sixty prayer exercises are particularly inspiring as they calm the spirit and ask readers to look deeply into themselves and their relationship with God and others. Whether you're just beginning the journey or you've been on it for quite a while, whether you're taking a private retreat or a group retreat, Living in God's Embrace will be an ideal companion.

Living in God's Embrace: The Practice of Spiritual Intimacy Jan 7, 2008
This book gets a 5 star rating from me. It teaches what the cover implies. The importance of experiencing God's presence and action in your life, and not just reading books (even the Bible) about Him/Her
Simple, Deep and Life-Changing Nov 19, 2002
Michael Fonseca has the ability to take a very complex subject--contemplative prayer--and make it easy to understand and implement in your life. His ability to lead a person deep into prayer is amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone serious about becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
Living in God's Embrace Dec 1, 2000
Michael's book can be used like a manual to help bring you into contempletive prayer. Michael's ability to help guide a person in this area is truly a gift. He will help bring you into a deeper union with God.
Individual Private Retreat Primer Oct 7, 2000
In this world of changing values and declining ability for people to seek out a holy and knowledgable spiritual director, this book is a primer to enter into the mystery of the Holy Trinity by prayer, reflection and action.
Michael Fonseca has proven to be a simple, but holy promoter of God's love.
This book should be on every Christians bookshelf only after it is read and implemented in their life.
