Overview After over a decade-long absence, Dr. Samantha Ronayne is plagued with doubt and regret when she returns to her hometown and discovers that the resident minister is none other than the man she left behind.
Publishers Description After over a decade long absence, Dr. Samantha Ronayne returns to her hometown. Much to her dismay, the resident minister is none other than the man she left behind, Aaron Eagle. Samantha and Aaron share a bitter secret that no one else knows about and that has them at odds immediately. Samantha aborted Aaron's baby without telling him she was pregnant. Now, years later, Samantha is a recovering alcoholic dealing with the reality of post-abortive stress. She is sorry for the choice she made and knows that while God forgives her, Aaron might not. It takes a series of tragedies for the minister to see how much his ex-fianc has grown, both as a woman and as a Christian. It doesn't take long for Aaron to realize that he still has feelings for Samantha, and it is in those feelings that he finds that there is healing in forgiveness.

Couldn't put it down!!!!! Dec 18, 2006
This story was sooo good! It centers around Aaron (a Native American) and Samantha (Sam) who grew up together. They are young and look forward to a bright future together until Sam does the unthinkable. Finding herself pregnant and not wanting it to interfere with upcoming schooling, she goes in for an abortion without telling Aaron first. Aaron says some harsh words when she tells him (as you can imagine) and Sam leaves for medschool. The next 12 years, for each of them, is dealing with Sam's decision (separately). Aaron becomes a pastor and Sam becomes a Dr. but still has lots of emotional scars because of the abortion. Her dad, who runs the reservation she grew up on, asks her to come home and be the clinic Dr. She agrees thinking that Aaron wouldn't be there. The book is the story of their journey through the pain. Will Aaron be able to forgive Sam for her decision? Can Sam forgive herself? Can Aaron continue to be a pastor while harboring the bitterness in his heart? Will God be enough to carry them through the pain yet to come?
I highly recommend this story. Aaron and Sam come alive from the pages. It was very realistic and heart breaking and yet so hopeful as well.
Mia did a fabulous work with "Heart of Stone". Don't miss this wonderful work! I look forward to her next book.
A Spectacular Book!!! Oct 24, 2005
Christmas is coming! People need to buy a copy of this book for everybody they know as a present! It's well written, accurate and deeply thought provoking. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book this much!
A breath of fresh air!!! Aug 7, 2005
This was the best Inspirational novel I've read in a very long time. To the point, emotionally gut wrenching but not too heavy, realistic and never dull, this book told it like it is. As a man who has gone through this type of situation, I have to say, the author hit the nail on the head. She captures the man's perspective, as well as the woman's and I don't think I've ever seen a writer do that before, especially with such an incindiary topic. I'm not ashamed to say I filched this book off my wife's dresser and read it twice. Buy it, read it, recommend it to every Christian you know, you won't regret it.
A Deeply Moving Must Read! Jul 17, 2005
I read this book cover to cover in the course of two days, I could not put it down!! I've read other Christian fiction books that sort of skirt the issue of abortion and what follows but I never read anything this powerful - or truthful - before. I think the author has done a great job presenting the realities of abortion and its aftermath. This book gives a voice to those in pain for the choice they made. It also shows Christians everywhere the necessity of forgiveness in the healing process and the blessings that follow when we walk in God's will, not our own. Kudos to Ms. Vanduran, this is a fantastic book!
