Item description for The Hiding Place (Radio Theatre) by Focus On The Family...
Overview Holland is under Nazi control. . . Thousands of Jewish refugees. . . One extraordinary family. An old watchmaker in Holland. His two daughters, Corrie and Betsie. Simple ordinary people. Yet these three unlikely heroes became the center of a major underground operation: To hide Jewish refugees from the occupying Germans. These kindly, law-abiding people broke every rule in the book to save the lives of the men, women and children being hunted by the Nazis. Their home became a hiding place, but the cost of their bravery was betrayal and in the dreaded Ravensbruck concentration camp, they had to create another hiding place for those around them. Based on the book by Corrie ten Boom with John and Elizabeth Sherrill, this special presentation of The Hiding Place was recorded in London, England and Holland, in the actual house in Haarlem where the ten Boom family sheltered Jewish refugees. With cinematic sound and an original score, Wendy Craig, Alec McCowen, Isla Blair and a host a Britain's leading actors capture the drama of this amazing, true story. Featuring an introduction and never-before-heard reflections by Brother Andrew.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Hiding Place (Radio Theatre)?
Faithful Adaptation Aug 31, 2005
This is a difficult, complex story to bring to radio, but Dave Arnold (my personal hero) does it with poise and panache. A new generation can now experience this heartbreaking and uplifting presentation of a fearless woman who stood up to the Nazis. You will not regret the purchase.

I was amazed at the believability this audio had! The sounds create images in your mind that make you feel as though you are almost watching it happen. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the story is not complete. I understand that introducing too many characters would be confusing. They used nephew Peter for many more roles than he had in the real story of the Ten Booms. But this slight change does not change the story line at all. I am now reading the book while I wait for my tapes to come back from a dear friend, it is hard to wait!
