Item description for Romans: The Gospel Of God's Grace (Theology Classics) by Alva J. McClain...
Overview There are two approaches to Romans that McClain takes "first he breaks down the text as first, justification; second, faith; and third, life." There are two thrusts in the book of Romans, "The just shall live by faith," and "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ." The first being the text of Romans and the second being the theme of Romans. It is from these two focal points that the exposition of Romans will be drawn.
Publishers Description McClain approaches Romans from a double perspective. The first perspective looks at the text using the lenses of justification, faith and life. The second perspectiveapproaches the text with Paul's statement, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ," (Rom. 1.16) in mind. This conservative look at the book of Romans is essential for anyone who preaches or teaches the Word of God.

Reviews - What do customers think about Romans: The Gospel Of God's Grace?
Best of the shorter commentaries Apr 13, 2006
For detailed exegesis, this is not the best resource, nor does it claim to be. While I might wish McClain had written a more detailed work focusing on the Greek, this survey captures the sweep and organization of the Epistle to the Romans better than any other. Recognize it for what it is - a great basic tool for study or preaching/teaching. McClain also understands Rom. 9-11 properly, i.e. God still has plans for the Jewish nation. There are any number of commentaries on Romans out there, including some good ones, but if you need a starting point, or can only get one, this is it.
Informative, Interesting, and Intelligently Written! Dec 19, 2003
I have used Dr. McClains book many times when preparing messages and doing Bible studies on the book of Romans. This written work reads very smoothly from chapter to chapter, however it could also be used as a Bible reference book. The comments and doctrines presented are very accurate and in harmony with other Scripture passages, which is occassionally missing in this type of book. This book could be valuable to the Bible Scholar as well as a new Christian who is interested in a deeper study on the book of Romans.

This gives great insight to believers in Christ Jesus and Expounds on the Book of Romans. It explains Condemnation: The wrath of God revealed, Salvation: The righteousness of God revealed, Vindication: The wisdom of God revealed, and Exhortation: The will Of God revealed.
