Reviews - What do customers think about Help! I've Been Asked to Preach: Don't Panic...Here's Practical Help to Keep Your Sermon from Sinking?
Practical advice for laymen Jan 17, 2009
As a layman, I have used Maylan's book to help prepare and deliver several expository sermons, all well received. This book delivers the goods.
The editorial review is typical of Maylan's writing - informal, yet well organized and substantive. Visit http://www.bellevueadventist.org/ and click Sermons Online for more examples of his writing.
This book leads you through the entire preaching process - including preparing spiritually, choosing a passage, interpreting the passage, organizing the sermon, preparing the approach, capturing the listener's attention, and delivery.
Some other topics include: the Five Priceless Benefits of Expository Preaching, objections you may have to preaching, how long your sermon should be, and how to read the Bible out loud.
In short, it is fun and encouraging, with much proven advice.
