Item description for We Hold These Truths to Be Self-Evident: Four Masterpieces That Define Our Nation by Max McLean...

Overview
Four Masterpieces that Define Our Nation Narrated by Max McLean. *The Declaration of Independence (1776) *The Preamble to the Constitution (1787) *The Gettysburg Address (1863) *Lincoln's Second Inaugural (1865) These four inestimable works of rhetoric are meant to strengthen our understanding of what it means to be an American, and why the American political soul is so drawn to Divine Inspiration. Within these four great pronouncements of American conviction is the belief that while all people are equal, we are equal under God. As is said in the conclusion of the Declaration of Independence, while the signers mutually pledged to each other their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor, they did so "with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence."

Reviews - What do customers think about We Hold These Truths to Be Self-Evident: Four Masterpieces That Define Our Nation?

Awesome  Sep 23, 2008
Max Mclean does a fantastic job taking what was written years ago and making it come alive. This is a great product to listen to when one wants to remember why the colonist's and the continental congress chose to sepreate themselves from Britian. The pain of brother against brother of the civil war and the cost of freedom.
I listen to this CD on the Patriotic holidays and any time I wish to be reminded why America is so great and why liberty and sacrifice is so important.
