Reviews - What do customers think about The Gift For All People?
Grace, Grace, Grace! Feb 23, 2007
This is a wonderful gift for people who have never been able to see God's gift of His Son in its fullness. I am giving one to my sister who is having a difficult time physically, and I know that it will encourage her to fight on.
Short and sweet Jan 6, 2007
Being the kind of person who prefers books that are challenging, I must concede that this wasn't one of my favourite books. The writing is beautiful and thoughtful, however a little too soft on occasion. Nonetheless, the content of the book was outstanding. The most important subject concentrated on was Christ and His work, and it's relation to us. What greater subject is there?
This book would make a great gift for a struggling believer, or someone on the verge of salvation. The chapters are brief and easy to read, so anyone can find time to read it. At the close, there is a commendable call for salvation, where Max does not beat around the bush.
Also, if you love to love the Lord, this book will provide you with wonderful material for meditation and worship. However, if you prefer an in depth study or a challenging book, you'll need to look elsewhere.
Beautiful testimony of God's love for us! May 2, 2004
I don't know if I can do justice in this review, but I will give it my best. This is one of the best books ever on showing us how much God loves us through his gift of Jesus. The author has written a book in a clear and simple and yet, amazing manner, that shows us clearly how much He loves us and how, through Jesus, our Lord, who took on all our sins and through our belief in Jesus we all can receive eternal life with him. I found myself reading the book in just a morning's time and felt so uplifted and comforted. Beautiful stories with many quotes from the Bible verifying and showing us the way to salvation-all we have to do is believe in Jesus. Is that so hard? It is our choice to make. He doesn't use trickery or lies like Satan does to get people to follow his wicked ways, but tells us straight out what we need to do for salvation and he gives us the choice to make our own decision who we want to follow. He will be there for us always anytime we turn to him, he will be there waiting. Enjoy!
A nice, inspirational read Jan 14, 2003
I bought this as a gift for myself, and this is my first introduction to the adult works of Max Lucado. (I have several of his children's books, and my children and I have thoroughly enjoyed them.) Overall, I found the little essays in this book well-written and inspirational. I would tell myself I would just read "one or two" as a nightly devotional, and end up reading five or six! His descriptions of God's grace and love for us are beyond compare. I did, however, find his descriptions of Christ's death on the cross almost too gleefully lurid. I appreciate the need to explain just how much Christ sacrificed for us, but I wonder if perhaps Mr. Lucado goes into too much detail? I definitely would not recommend this book for someone under 16 for that reason. Still, this is a great, inspirational book and a great introduction to Lucado's work.
A Definite Gift to Give Sep 25, 2001
If you're a fan of Lucado, you should find each story to be a unique jewel. However, if you've read many of his other books, you may be disappointed as this book is actually a collection of stories you probably remember from his other works. However, the title of this book captures the theme so precisely; a gift. The gift of Grace, there is no greater gift. And this title explains the purpose of this book: to be a gift to others...for those who would feel comfortable with a smaller book... for those who may only have the time to ocassionally read... or where a story needs to be precise in its brevity. This is such a book. One book that sets out to be a gift, one book that succeeds.
