Item description for God Came Near (Revised) by Max Lucado...
Overview In this stunning work, Lucado views the Savior through a distinctly human lens. He speaks plainly to those who prefer to keep Jesus otherworldly, distant, and predictable.
It all happened in a moment -- a most remarkable moment.
God came near.
He came not as a flash of light or as an unapproachable conqueror, but as One whose first cries were heard by a peasant girl and a sleepy carpenter. The hands that held him were not manicured, but callused and dirty.
No silk. No ivory. No hype. No party. No hoopla. God had come near ... for you.
Travel back in time and relive Christ the Son of God becoming man. Come with Max as he brings to life the most important event in history ... when God came near. And as you catch a vision of this incredible moment, let it mark the beginning of a new life for yourself.
God came near. If he is who he says he is, there is no truth more worthy of your time.

Great bathroom book Feb 18, 2007
This book is primarily short stories about our Savior. Lucado is far from a Theologian, but in this book he is able to present a different view of the humanity of Christ. This book is important for better understanding Christ.
God Came Near Jan 11, 2007
Our church study group picked this book and have really enjoyed it so far. The book is not a study book so to speak. It's designed more to make you think and feel about what your reading. I've found myself asking myself some deeply spiritual questions, and I've found myself inspired to write lines of poetry. We're only four chapters through the book, but I'm looking forward to the experience each wiik and sharing what the Spirit has revealed to my heart through Max Lucado's words.
Wonderful Book! Jan 11, 2007
I was given this book after purchasing our family Christmas tree at our church, after reading it, it had such a positive impact on me, I purchased five to give as gifts to several members of my family. Max Lucado is such a gifted writer and this book is no exception. His insights into the Christian walk are truly amazing!
Style but no substance Jul 10, 2003
I had seen Max Lucado on Larry King, so I picked up this book. It was disappointing. Yes, it changed my thinking. But only for a few minutes. There was nothing in the book that really "stuck to my ribs" spiritually. The book did not encourage me to dig in the Word or to make changes in my life. I don't plan on reading any more books by Max Lucado.
WOW! Jul 10, 2002
Reading this book helped me come to a much better understanding of just what our Savior did for us! To leave Heaven in all of its glory and splendor and come to earth to become a human! Max brings the Incarnation into such focus. I found myself in tears several times as I considered God's sacrifice for me! What a blessing! This book is going to my favorite people this Christmas!
