Simply amazing Oct 24, 2008
Wow. That's all I have to say. I only have a 300 word limit, but I can not express everything about this book in so little words. Anybody who runs will relate to this book, it's expertly told and captures the art of running. Matt Peharda describes precisely what it means to be a runner. Some of the descriptions create concrete images into what runners actually feel. I have read a lot of running books, and none of them even come close to the masterpiece Peharda has made. This is the first book I can remember where I actually started to read it again after just one day. The running community will thank you.
Reading With An Awesomeness Sep 19, 2008
This book is a must read book for anyone. Theres so much to say about it, like you start to feel like you are in the book and once you're 10 pages in you don't want to put it down. The whole book flew by and I wish there was more to it. My advice to anyone wanting to read this book is take your time and enjoy the ride. This is Matt Peharda's first book, if he makes more they maybe even better. Enjoy this book while it is in stock.
Running With A Vengeance! Sep 19, 2008
This was required reading for the varsity runners on our cross-country team. I was shocked at how several of them were talking about the intensity after they had it for a weekend. Some say it made them rethink their running and racing. I wouldn't say the book "changed" their racing, but it definitely has had an impact on how they train. It is inspirational and seems like it would make anyone want to train like an animal after a few chapters.
For Younger Age Groups Sep 14, 2008
As a competitive runner, I read everything I can about my sport. This book is sophomoric and aimed at junior high level readers, at best. The author tries, but the characters are embarrassingly one-dimensional and the story predictable. He throws in a dysfunctional family every couple of chapters, but doesn't seem to know where to go with that particular thread. This is one for anyone with much of an education to skip. Appreciate the effort, but no thanks.
