Item description for Concord Cunningham the Scripture Sleuth
Concord Cunningham Mysteries (Scripture Sleuth #1) by Mat Halverson...
Are you ready to catch villains, solve puzzles, and crack cases that stump normal detectives? Grab your Bible and get ready to Scripture Sleuth with Concord Cunningham. Concord investigates an exciting new mystery in each chapter. But instead of revealing the solution at the end of the chapter, Concord gives readers a Bible verse to look up. The Bible verse holds the final clue to that chapter's mystery, so readers must open a Bible, find the verse, and look for the clue. When readers are ready to see if they have cracked the case, the solutions are at the back of the book. Readers will realize that God's Word is living, active, and able to help out in any situation.
Publishers Description It has been said that one can find the answers to all of life's mysteries in the Bible. The Word of God is sufficient to meet all our needs. Finding the answers requires at least a basic knowledge of the Bible. The concordance is a topical index of key words that lead a scholar to appropriate Bible verses. It is a valuable tool to finding answers in the Word of God.
Concord Cunningham is a boy who has discovered this tool and uses it to solve mysteries in his community. His success brings him acclaim, and a reputation as a "Scripture Sleuth". Readers will be challenged to solve the mysteries without the advantage of a concordance, but Concord Cunningham will reveal the source of the answer in Scripture. This is the first of a series.

Concord Cunningham Mysteries?
scripture version of Encyclopedia Brown Jan 5, 2007
I read about this book in a homeschooling magazine and decided to buy it because we needed more stories to read aloud that had definite morals to them. We have read the first chapter and my son, age 8, is hooked already. He enjoyed reading Encyclopedia Brown last fall and this book is similar in format in that you have a complete mystery and resolution in each chapter. However each mystery comes with a Bible verse to help you solve it. My son sat with his Bible open on his lap while I read the story and he looked up the verse and then tried to figure out the solution. I'm thankful for any book that can get my kids interested in reading AND give them oppotunity to become more familiar with their Bibles!
Such a GREAT book! Nov 8, 2003
I have had this book for years, since it first came out. I finally sat down and read it last week and finished the whole thing in one night! I loved it! I will be getting the other two for me, then passing them down to my kids as they get older, and buying them as gifts. Kept me guessing, great writing style, I just really liked this book and would reccomend it to anyone who likes mysteries, like the Hardy Boys or 3 Investigators.
Concord Cunningham The Scripture Sleuth Feb 28, 2000
We took this book to our grandchildren in California, and just put it on the table for them. That night we discovered the 11 year old girl sitting on the bunk bed reading to her 8 year old brother. No pressure from us. They had solved the first 4 mysteries, using both simple deduction and by applying the biblical cues.
A young readers delight Feb 25, 2000
This book introduces readers to a new way of reading a book. The author creates a story but leaves the reader to solve the mystery. The chapters are short enough so younger kids won't get bored with the story, but long enough to keep you wondering how each mystery will be solved. A new and fresh idea for young readers who want to use the Bible as their everyday sword.
