Reviews - What do customers think about Buried Lies?
A masterful tale of abuse and restoration Aug 21, 2008
Abigail, Kathleen, Valerie, Marie, Patsy, Amanda, and Imelda are all living with their belief in lies about their worth in this world. The lies have had a devastating effect on their relationships and their lives. These women all have one thing in common they are survivors of the most perverse of sexual perversions, incest. I am an avid perhaps even rabid reader of all kinds of literature – I’m even given to reading labels in the market - and I have had this book in my library for over two years without reading it. My excuse was well; it is sort of “chic” book if you will forgive me. I know and love the author as a sister in Christ so I gave up and read it in one sitting. “Buried Lies” is written by Marty Delmon a mother, grandmother, speaker, missionary, and author. In this intensely powerful novel Marty weaves a masterful tale of abuse of the worst sort, redemption, restoration, forgiveness and spiritual healing that will cause you to cry, laugh, be angry, and feel God’s love at a primal level. While her characters are fictional Marty brings them off page as real, living breathing, hurt, and healed women. Be warned her descriptions are as graphic as they are believable. You are will feel anger to point of rage about the horrific things that were done to these women as little girls one even from birth. The real story is how Jesus through the Holy Spirit is able fold each woman into His loving arms and restores her to a life based on God’s value (the truth) for her. God is faithful to each woman and puts a few Godly men in their lives along with the evil ones. This is a story of victory and glory for God. If you are a survivor this very prevalent outrage this story will give you hope and some tools for your healing. I believe while the story is fictional it represents the lives of real women. Reverend Naomi Yost guides each woman along the path with Jesus at her side back to the root of the lies that she has believed about her own worth. Then with Jesus holding her hand each woman is able to discover God’s truth for her life. Buried Lies and the companion Buried Lies Workbook make a thought provoking and healing basis for a Christian woman’s small group study.
