Item description for Life Equity: Realize Your True Value and Pursue Your Passions at Any Stage in Life by Marsha Blackburn & Amy Grant...
Overview "Life Equity" gives women a step-by-step plan for using the powerful and valuable skills they already have to change their own lives and enrich their world.
The life you've led has prepared you for the life you dream of.
For too long and for too many, the word "leadership" has had a masculine ring to it. Because women are such natural team players and consensus builders, many may simply view a strong desire to lead as, well, a bit rude. What we've failed to realize is if you define leadership as the art of getting a group of people working together effectively toward a common goal―then women bring some mighty powerful leadership skills to the table. So why don't we jump in?
We long to dive into the challenges and make a difference, but holding us back are questions and self doubt:
Do I have anything left to offer after my kids are grown?
What if I fall on my face?
Will anyone recognize what I have to offer?
Do I have what it takes to make a real difference?
How do I break into, or get around, the good ol' boy network?
Whether you're a new college graduate, an empty nester, a divorcee starting life on your own (again), or a discontented cubical worker, Congressman Marsha Blackburn says you are an amazing, talented woman:
"Here is exciting news: there is a key truth that will unlock extraordinary possibilities for you. The simple but powerful truth is that your accumulated skills go with you. The ordinary, everyday tasks you have been performing are actually the foundation for getting you where you want to go. In even the most unglamorous roles, you have built real leadership ability that has prepared you for bigger things. "
Today, more than ever, the world needs leaders for jobs big and small, and women have been training for these tasks their whole lives. They can make a difference in their own lives and in our culture―and you can too.

A bit too much focus on the business world Feb 22, 2009
I guess I just wasn't planning for the primary focus of the business world. I'm still reading it, so I am hopeful this may play out as I continue.
Great topic for the world we live in now Feb 11, 2009
Marsha Blackburn has a fresh new perspective on the strengths of women. I felt so empowered by all the abilities my life experiences have given me. I loved the stories of successful women at the end of each chapter. I recommend this book for any woman who wants to leave a lasting impact on the world around her.
Amazing Woman Jan 28, 2009
As a big fan of Marsh Blackburn, I enjoyed her live appearances on CNN and Fox during this past year. So I am thrilled that this amazing woman, civil servant, mother, wife and friend, finally wrote something I could read, reread and share with friends.
Perfect gift Jan 23, 2009
I loved reading this book. I felt as if I had spent an afternoon with Marsha and some really good friends. It was informative, motivating and very inspiring. I bought several as Christmas gifts for my girlfriends and sisters and have already given one as a birthday gift. Another friend is giving it to her sister who just divorced and another gave it to a friend who was recently widowed. It is the perfect "girl gift" for various typesLife Equity: Realize Your True Value and Pursue Your Passions at Any Stage in Life of women because Marsha shares experiences of so many different women that drew from their own situations and triumphed! I loved it! So will you.
Life Equity full of inspiring real life stories Jan 15, 2009
I learn best through stories that I can relate to, which is why Life Equity really hit home with me. It's choc-full of true stories of real women who have inspiring testimonies of overcoming struggles, realizing their true potential, and then making a difference in the world around them. Marsha's story alone is motivating, but I love that she doesn't just rely on her own experience. She shares her story as well as the stories of women who have inspired her. All in all, a great read for women of all ages!
