Reviews - What do customers think about Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness: Meditational Poems with Suggested Companion Scriptures?
I very much recommend this! Dec 8, 2007
Mark Aikins' Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness provides an excellent blend of poetic inspiration while bringing ancient images freshly to mind. I particularly enjoyed Aikins' alliterative tongue with such lines as "Pressed, imprisioned purity," and "Persecuted princelings' pleas," found in "The Faithful."
One of my favorites was "The Nazarene." The very first line, "I've seen Him, I tell you; all the rumors are true!" reminded me of why the expectant excitement that began two thousand years ago persists to this day. --Robert Barlow
Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness - Poems of Thought and Prayer Apr 22, 2006
Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness, a poetry collection by Mark Aikins, speaks to a broad spectrum of thinkers. Those looking for traditional Christian poems for morning devotional times will find fresh, original food for thought portrayed in flowing word pictures, such as "So Like a Lamb." Others, who grapple with a Christian world view in a wounded era will identify with "Eucharist on the Blue Line" and "Amanda's Bedside." Still others will enjoy the sweetness of a timeless father/daughter moment in "What the Music Does." Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness is a good read for those who take the time to savor a good cup of coffee and the spiritual everyday.
A book for all lovers of poetry Apr 6, 2006
I am a natural lover of poetry and found this book both encouraging and enjoyable. This book has a wide variety of poems written in different styles. Some poems are lighter than others but all have suggested scripture reflecting to the subject of the poem. A must read for all poetry lovers.
Tremendous work of poetry (Just when I needed it) Apr 5, 2006
This incredible book, "Warmth in the Brilliant Darkness" is a collection of fine poetry that comes straight from the heart of a person who can back up His words with experience and wisdom like no one else i've seen. Mark Aikins speaks of His many struggles and trials as well as the indescribable Joys found in Christ Jesus. These poems in which he links with passages from scripture is such an uplifting and artistic tool to use in a daily devotional or an addition to a daily study. This is truely poetry from a man who trust's the Lord, has been through ministry and has let God bless him and his family through it.
