Item description for Praying the Way Jesus Prayed: Breaking Through the Barriers That Keep Us from Connecting With God by Mark Link...
Overview One of the main reasons why people don't pray-or don't pray more often-is because they don't know how to pray. In Praying the Way Jesus Prayed, Mark Link, SJ, simplifies and clarifies for everyone the process of how to pray. By looking closely at the example of Jesus, Fr. Link shows readers uncomfortable with praying how to pray effectively, and he shows those who already routinely engage in prayer how to pray in ways that lead to an even richer, deeper communication with God. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reviews - What do customers think about Praying the Way Jesus Prayed: Breaking Through the Barriers That Keep Us from Connecting With God?
The Author knows what he is talking about Apr 12, 2010
Mark Link, SJ, has a talent for bringing together disparate pieces of prayer and weaving a tapestry of meaning together which adds to the power of our understanding of prayer. The author covers the three main types of prayer using anecdotal stories, extracts from literature, poetry, and biographical information on how others have prayed. He takes a look at the gospel narrative to examine the circumstances under which Jesus of Nazareth prayed and why.
In reading this narrative on prayer, one comes away with the feeling that prayer is a foundational font to the human experience and why it is so important to our individual and collective well-being. This lively narrative keeps one reading because of the depth and insight of its subject.
While I personally do not subscribe to some of the fact claims made in the book about Jesus of Nazareth or God specifically, I am in total agreement with the power of prayer to transform one's life, and its importance in making us more balanced, contemplative, grounded, and whole beings.
Prayer changes lives. It creates the ground for a personal relationship with the ineffable. It guides our actions; it provides us with internal power for taking on the difficult tasks of life. It renews us. It softens us, and at the same time takes us to an inner power that is indomitable.
This is a very good book on prayer; one of the best I've read, and I have read many.
