Item description for Come, Lord Jesus: A Study of Revelation by Mark Braaten...
Overview Braaten's guide answers the many questions that arise when modern readers enter the ancient text of Revelation. It avoids complicated theological jargon and popularized misapplications of the book of Revelation.
The book of Revelation is at once familiar and strange, full of fearsome warning and beautiful promise. It is a letter, a prophecy, an apocalypse, and a spiral of Visions, a type of ancient literature no longer written. How can Christians today understand the book of Revelation and its meaning and implications for our lives? Mark Braaten, a pastor and scholar who has spent years studying and teaching Revelation, began this book when his father asked him for a good introduction to the difficult text. Not wanting to hand his dad a complicated theological textbook or a popularized book that might misread or misapply the message of Revelation, Braaten set out to write his own guide.
"Come, Lord Jesus" is Braaten's response to his father's request, and it answers the many questions that arise when modern readers enter this ancient text. This book avoids complicated theological jargon and popularized misapplications of the book of Revelation--and leads readers to join the holy choir in singing, Come, Lord Jesus."

Reviews - What do customers think about Come, Lord Jesus: A Study of Revelation?
Highly Recommended Nov 21, 2007
Being a high school sunday school teacher, I have had many requests from the kids to study Revelation and had yet to find anything clear to follow. I found this book on this site and FINALLY a book on Revelation that isn't made for Biblical scholars. Thanks!
Great Resource for Bible study Oct 11, 2007
Mark Braaten has written a short commentary on Revelation that incorporates some of the latest scholarly insights in a style that is very readable and accessible to most laypeople. If you are looking for a resource to use for a church Bible study that is a responsible alternative to the "Left Behind" interpretation, this is a great choice.
Practical Book May 12, 2007
As a pastor and a leader of a Bible Study group, I found Mark Braaten's book to be very clear and easy to understand. If anyone is afraid of the Book of Revelation, this book will wipe away all fears and replace them with feelings of hope. Whether for group study or personal study, this book is well worth it. If I ever do this study course again, I just might make Graaten's book the text book for the class.
