Item description for Bethlehem's Best: A Christmas Musical Story Based on Luke 2:1-20, Matthew 2:1-2, 8-11 by Mark A. Miller, Laurie Zelman & Debi Tyree...
Ruhamah, her mother Hannah, and Aaron expect it to be another day at the marketplace in Bethlehem. While visiting in the market, Ruhamah and Aaron meet a stranger, Joseph, who asks them for a place to stay. As the story continues to unfold, we hear the account of Christ's birth as found in Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-2, 8-11. At the end of "Bethlehem's Best, the entire cast of townspeople, shepherds, angels, and wise men gather in Aaron's father's stable to celebrate the birth of Christ by singing "Sing out loud in joy and praise...thank God for this day of days " Children will enjoy singing the songs as they become townspeople and market vendors in Bethlehem. Musical styles vary from a Broadway-style opening song, to a contemporary ballad, and a tango for the wise men. Five of the fifteen roles can be portrayed by a child, youth, or adult to give directors more flexibility in casting the musical. The children will be fully engaged in the performance of "Bethlehem's Best as they learn how people lived in Bible times and develop their own characters through the session plans provided in the Leader/Accompanist Edition. A Listening CD is included with the Leader/Accompanist Edition to help the director learn and teach the musical.
