Item description for Red Leaves & Golden Curtains by Mario Kramer...
Maxine Henryson's work is highly coherent and conceptual. The vocabulary of these very precisely composed images is reduced and focused on the essential-nothing is added. These color photographs from different cultures impress us with their enormous variety of nuance as well as their calm, contemplative expressiveness.

Reviews - What do customers think about Red Leaves & Golden Curtains?
Luminous, Sensual and Beautiful Oct 29, 2007
In Red Leaves & Golden Curtains Maxine Henryson explores her own perception of the feminine in the world, examining the differences and similarities between cultures. The images trace evidence of divinity, ritual, place, memory and history in the West and East. As Mario Kramer, Curator of the Collection, Museum fur Moderne Kunst, in Frankfurt, Germany states in his introduction, "the photographs of Maxine Henryson are pictures of both memories and wishes....These photographs are the new painting." Sequences from Vermont, St. Petersburg, Germany, Poland, South india and Cambodia are connected to one another as though ghostly travel memories evoking the sense of a vague and condensed reminiscence of past journeys and distant places, all centered on the idea of light. A must for any serious viewer of color photography. These photographs can not help but impress the viewer with their enormous variety of nuance as well as a calm contemplative expressiveness.
