The boy who can do everyhting, but... Feb 27, 2007
In this Spanish language children's book, Edward is a young man with a great imagination. Brave as any boy his age, Edward has no fear of the unknown, sure that he knows many of the really important things in life; for example, Edward has learned how to swim underwater with all the creatures of the sea; he loves the challenge of a mystery to be solved and the imagined excitement of being an astronaut and gliding through space, weighing nothing at all. Sometimes Edward sees himself in the middle of a tropical jungle, surrounded by strange birds and animals, the bright blue sky above. He thinks it would be a great challenge to tame a cage full of wild tigers in the middle of a circus or build a castle high in the sky, where he could gaze upon the world from a great height. Even hairy, scary monsters don't intimidate Edward!
There are no limits to the places Edward can go, but even with all his great adventures in mind, Edward is still just a little boy who cannot tie his shoes. So he must come back to earth and ask his mama for help. Graciously, his mother instructs Edward how to tie his sneakers, ready for another day of exploring the wonderful world. This well-written story follows the enthusiastic boy as he dreams his many adventures, the illustrations as rich as the boys imagination, the deep blues of the ocean, the lush foliage of the jungle, a little boy spiraling through space, full of fanciful detail. But even this young man must come back to earth, at least long enough to receive some practical instruction from his mother, that it is wonderful to dream, but also to have a mother to help with the important lessons along the way.
