Reviews - What do customers think about Marco Paoluzzo: North Nord?
places unfamiliar and otherworldly Apr 30, 2006
I have followed Marco Paoluzzo's photography for many years and of his six books, I personally feel North/Nord is his finest work thus far. The book is filled with exquisite landscapes of both Iceland and the Faroe Islands masterfully printed in black and white. The images take you to places that are unfamiliar and otherworldly, with dark, almost black, volcanic sand and rock contrasted against ever changing skies and water and ice. Although North/Nord will definitely give you the urge to visit Iceland and the Faroe Islands, it is not a travel guide. Other than a brief introduction by Marco and the location of each photograph in small print, there is no other text and you are left to simply enjoy the imagery. Although Marco Paoluzzo is a renowned travel photographer, I feel this book is more about a personal journey to find inner peace rather than a travelogue. If you are a collector of fine art photography books as I am, this should be placed high on your list. It is truly a work of art.
