Item description for Twelve Ordinary Men Workbook by John F. MacArthur...
Overview In this hands-on workbook based on the bestselling "Twelve Ordinary Men, " MacArthur shows modern-day believers how to impact the world by following the disciples' teaching and training.
Who were these men?
They weren't saints. They weren't scholars. They weren't even religious sages. What is most amazing about the disciples is that Jesus ever selected them at all. Among them, a handful of common fishermen, a hated tax collector, and an impulsive political zealot.
The "Twelve Ordinary Men Workbook" brings you face-to-face with the disciples as you've never seen them. You'll put yourself in their shoes. You'll understand their doubts and hopes. And you'll hear the power of Jesus' words in a whole new way. The message is clear. If Christ can accomplish His purposes through the lives of common men like these, imagine what He has in store for you

Most useless bible study workbook I've ever used Feb 27, 2006
This workbook doesn't ask any question beyond an eighth grade comprehension level. The guys and I were looking for meat and found baby food.
Helpful but long Jun 6, 2003
We got this for my husband to use in a Bible study he leads. It has LOTS of questions, almost so many you wonder if the people will get through them. They are, of course, very good application questions as would be typical of MacArthur. He wishes there was more info just for the leader or a separate leader's guide to ease preparation, though there are some leader notes in the guide. Overall, very good and highly recommended. Guess he got pampered by another Bible study series we used that came complete with leader's guide and extra info to use! BTW, most of the questions are application oriented and thus have lots of lines to write out your answers and thoughts, hence the number of pages.
Terrific for personal or group study! Jun 6, 2003
We bought this book along with the study guide for my husband to use in leading his Wednesday night Bible study. The book is enjoyable to read and informative, typical MacArthur. The workbook has application questions and is actually rather lengthy. I do wish the book came in paperback to lessen the cost. After perusing it, it seems it will work out great for the Bible study (material is suitable length in each chapter, good questions to guide discussions). My husband said he wished there were a Leader's edition that would have extra notes just for the leader, but the study guide did have some notes for that purpose (just not as much as what he wanted). The book springs from a series of sermons he gave on the subject, so the men are fleshed out and brought to life with plenty of application, rather than just being the run-of-the-mill information that everyone already knows. I think you'll find it very interesting.
