The Battle for Truth: Study Guide Apr 3, 2010
The battle for "Truth" rages on and on since the Garden of Eden. Moreover many people today deny that certain truth exists, although they are certain of that! Yes truth deniers are self-nullifying irrationalists however they remain a powerful force inasmuch as much of the Western Media affirms similar epistemic nonsense. Herein John MacArthur (pastor Grace Community Church, president of the Master's College and has written more than six dozen books) demonstrates that not only is true truth under attack, the battle thereof is essential to recognize and engage. "The Truth War: Study Guide," is a fine tool the writer has bequeathed to the Christian community that will help morally arouse believers to enter the battlefield as peaceful truth loving apologists.
The Truth War Study Guide provides the budding cultural warrior and apologist with Study Questions to:
- Discover and affirm certainty - Witness to those stuck in self-stultifying postmodern trends - Confront heresy and apostasy - Employ proper spiritual warfare - Improve your discernment abilities - Recognize and deal with the moral, theological, and philosophical errors and false teachers within the church.
And with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved (2Thes. 2:10).
This makes for a fine entry level apologetic book that will stir the hearts of Christians to embrace a life of apologetics and evangelism while pursuing higher level apologetics books and resources.
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (Jesus: John 8:32). Great for personal, family, or group devotions if the Leader digs a bit deeper than the outline of this study guide. God Does Exist!: Defending the faith using presuppositional apologetics, evidence, and the impossibility of the contrary
Great Bible study by Pastor John MacArthur Jan 10, 2010
Make sure you also purchase the related, life changing, book by Pastor John MacArthur: The Truth War The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception. It is a MUST read for Christians since few Pastors have the courage these days to hold to Biblical truth based on the doctrines of Scripture.
As Pilate asked, "What is truth?" Oct 28, 2008
Detailed analysis of what truth is. It is not determined by each person's own concept of right and wrong, but the prerogative of the Author of Truth. A fascinating read that takes you from the beginning of creation to the present misconceptions and apostasies of some of the modern churches. It leaves you looking at everyday situations and news events in a whole new light. What IS the truth behind the situation, according to God's standard? As Ephesians 4:14 explains, we will no longer be tossed back and forth by waves, blown here or there by every wind of teaching by the cunning and craftiness of men.
Very disappointing study guide Jul 13, 2008
Very disappoint study guide to an otherwise very good book. As leader of a college and career group, I've done a number of books with study guide and I can't imagine a worse study guide.
The questions are very poor at stimulating meaningful discussion. The study guide seems like it geared for upper elementary/middle school group. The question are entire factual based on scripture reading that aren't related directly to the content of the book. Furthermore the "proof texts" given to help you answer the questions are very poorly references. Also it frequently seems like a group of question are getting at the same a idea with little difference.
Also The book is eight chapter and the study guide has only six which is a bit confusing. There is no direction given as how to coordinate the two.
