Item description for La Divina Misericordia en Mi Alma: Diario Beata Sor M. Faustina Kowalska by Maria Faustina Kowalska...
Overview The Diary is a dramatic telling of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska's amazing encounter with The Divine Mercy - our Lord Jesus Christ. On Mercy Sunday 2006, Pope Benedict XVI said, "The mystery of the merciful love of God was the center of the pontificate of my venerable predecessor [Pope John Paul II] ... evidencing that the devotion to Divine Mercy is not a secondary, but an integral dimension of a Christian's faith and prayer." The Diary chronicles God's invitation to turn to His mercy as a source of hope for the world. In it, we are reminded to trust in the Divine Mercy of Jesus and seek His forgiveness. And as Christ is merciful, so, too, are we instructed to be merciful to others. The message of Divine Mercy has become an integral part of Catholic faith, including the celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy on the Sunday after Easter as Jesus had requested of St. Faustina. The Diary is truly a book that inspires people to turn with trust to Jesus and guides the reader through an intimate journey of prayer and devotion that ultimately leads to God's mercy.

More About Maria Faustina Kowalska
Saint Maria Faustina was born Helena Kowalska in a small village west of Lodz, Poland on August 25, 1905. When she was almost twenty, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, whose members devote themselves to the care and education of troubled young women. In the 1930's, Sister Faustina received from the Lord a message of mercy that she was told to spread throughout the world. She was asked to become the apostle and secretary of God's mercy, a model of how to be merciful to others, and an instrument for reemphasizing God's plan of mercy for the world.
She wrote and suffered in secret, with only her spiritual director and some of her superiors aware that anything special was taking place in her life. The message of mercy that Sister Faustina received is now being spread throughout the world; her diary, Divine Mercy in my Soul, has become the handbook for devotion to the Divine Mercy.
Maria Faustina Kowalska was born in 1905 and died in 1938.

Devotion Feb 7, 2007
I bought this for my wife and over the past three days she has not been able to read a word of it because I can't put it down. It is amazing to me how sold out St. Faustina was ( and still is ) to Jesus. Every time I read a passage I shake my head and realize that I have so much further to go in my life with God. I can't be a monk, but I can be much more devout than I am. I am understanding one thing from reading this very clearly, Divine Mercy is a consuming fire.
The Keyword Is "Mercy" Nov 19, 2006
Like Saint Therese Of Lisieux's autobiographical spiritual treasure "Story Of A Soul", Saint Faustina's diary, "DIVINE MERCY IN MY SOUL" is a life transforing read. . . in fact it is a read that will go on throughout your lifetime . . . not a one-time reading, but a book you will return to over and over again for inspiration and guidance, and prayerful meditation.
Sister Faustina writes of her spiritual experiences of everyday life encounters with everyday people, with family, with clergy, with others in her religious community . . . and with "the Lord" Himself.
In her writings we can see how her encounters with the Lord, in quite mystical ways, tranformed her own life and way of living and treating others. And in reading "her ways" we can begin to get hints as to how we also might live our faith among so many others who we encounter in our day-to-day living.
Of course the key word is "Mercy" . . . and not just "Mercy" . . . but "DIVINE MERCY" . . . and not a mercy somewhere far "out there" but "in my soul" . . . and therefore in YOUR soul as well, for that is where God dwells and lives and acts.
This diary is written in such a manner that one can read it at almost any section which catches our interest or answers a need of the moment. . . it also can serve as a "prayerbook" as it contains the words that Sister Faustina was told by the Lord that we should pray . . .and how to pray them. It also conatins the words of prayers that Saint Faustine herself prayed from the depths of her own soul . . . and these can be prayed by us as well . . . or help inspire our own thoughts and prayers to God.
This is a book more than worth having and reading and re-reading often. You will not exhaust the treasures which it contains and always find something new or a new depth of spirit as you read her words.
And Sister faustina will become a companion and fellow traveller with you along your pilgrimage and journet to God . . . to Divine Mercy and along the road of divine Mercy.
