My favorite book Mar 1, 2007
This is one of my favorite books of all time. As a person who reads 4-8 books/week, it really takes a special book to catch my attention. This book is one that has truely caught my attention, and continues to hold it. I have read this book many times, and no matter how many times i read it i never get tired of the story. I have also lent the book to many family members and friends who have also enjoyed the book. I am now purchasing another copy of the book, as mine is very worn from repeated use. This is a book that will never go out of style, and a heart warming Christian story.
a cliched christian romance novel and nothing more Jun 26, 2006
Obviously I'm in the minority with my opinion on this book. I have to say upfront that I read it several years ago, and I must have been 13 or 14 years of age at the time. But even in my youth, or maybe because of it, I found this book boring, drawn out and terribly predictable. Some may discredit my opinion since I haven't read the book recently, and that's fine. I'm sure if I were to muddle through it again, my opinion would not change for the positive.
A woman immigrates to the US, falls for her boss, and they get married. And of course his children who loved her as a babysitter don't seem to like her as much now that she's their new mother. Oh the twists and turns! But alas, it all works out in the end, since after all, this is a Christian romance novel and since the main characters are dedicated Christians, they do, of course live happily ever after. But if all you're looking for is Christian romance to make your heart-a-flutter in a purely God-fearing way, then you will most likely love this book. Cheers!
The Gold Standard for modern Christian Romance May 2, 2006
A recent Czech emigre, Sophie is battling language difficulties, thoughtless cultural stereotyping, loneliness, and financial hardship. A church friend helps her land a job as a housekeeper to Alec Riley. Alec has lost his wife in a car crash. He reacts by desperately turning himself into a workaholic and emotionally abandons his three children (ages 16, 12, 10) to wander in their own pain-filled daze. Sophie arrives and wonderful life-changing mayhem ensues. Sophie's tenuous grasp of English helps fill this book with laugh-out-loud humor and all five main characters have fully developed story lines that entices the reader right into the family. You will live the story with them.
One of Lori Wick's Greatest books ever!!!!!!!! Apr 4, 2006
Sophie has made a mistake. She has left her Grandmother and a good job in Chechoslovakia for her dream of America. What does she have.......a small apartment and a job as a bus girl in restaurant where nobody respects nor understands her. Please God send a friend. God sends Janet Ring, whose brother Alex is recently widowed. He has 3 children and they need a miracle before they all lose each other. Can Sophie's loving ways help this hurting family find their way back to God and each other? This is one of my favorite Lori Wick books.
My Heart Nov 18, 2005
This was the first christian novel, I read. I loved it, Sophia was so humble and loving. She faced many difficulties, but she made it through the Grace of God!
