Reviews - What do customers think about Moonlight on the Millpond (Tucker Mills Trilogy,)?
Moonlight on the Millpond Aug 26, 2008
My order was more than I expected for a used book.
I will order again.
Mom liked it Nov 4, 2007
The reviews on this book were all over the place and nearly scared me off. But my 96 year old mother loved it and is waiting for the next book in the series.
Don't let other reviews scare you off this book! Jan 8, 2007
Be sure to read all three books . . . they weave the characters wonderfully throughout and truly show struggles within the Christian life -rather than the easy answers that are usually portrayed. There are so many times within the books that are great examples of scripture application to real life situations - it shows that living a christian life is more than reading the Bible and attending church.
Don't miss these!
Bravo Ms. Wick Dec 11, 2006
I have long waited for Ms. Wick to write a novel in which the main characters did not get saved. Many people struggle with this decision. It is rarely an easy decision for someone who has not been raised in the faith. Sometimes people take a while, and sometimes it doesn't happen. Understanding the reasons that someone who is seeking stops, or does not find are important. While I have learned much about how to be a good witness to someone who has some of the "easy" questions about believing, it is difficult for me to find sources who tell you how to answer the hard questions. I was a little disapointed in how it occured in the second novella, but I was really impressed that she could leave the book with the characters as non beleivers. So often we have to do this in our daily lives, that it was sometimes frustrating to see it happen so easily for the people in the books.
Further, this series is about a town, while there are "main characters" this book highlights how people are deeply affected by thier environment and past experiences. While this may mean that we get to know the main characters a little less, if you take a moment to enjoy the connections between the characters, and see how a town was once more than just a bunch of people who happened to live in a given area, you can really enjoy this book.
This book is not like Ms. Wick's other books. I do not think it worse, or better, but definitly different. If you expect classic Wick, you will be dissapointed, but if you are ready for a new perspective and a community approach, you can enjoy this book.
I am also fascinated by the indignation over drunk/memory. Oddly enough, Alcohol does effect everyone differently, as do all drugs, including caffeine. Having actually met people who don't remember what happened while they were drinking, despite the fact that they don't look/act overly drunk, I can believe this possibility. I could also detail the physiology of being drunk (what happens in your body/mind), but I'll let you figure out that one. Just know that this is a completely plausible situation.

This is a good read. A little slow at times. I recommend the entire Tucker Mills series.
