Item description for 20 Tough Questions Teenagers Ask and 20 Tough Answers by Lois Jean Davitz, Joel R. Davitz & L. Davitz...
Overview Teenagers like yourselves have tough questions that you rarely get a chance to ask. It's not all that simple to confront adults with straightforward, right-to-the-point questions about such topics as sex, drugs, faith and contraception, just to mention a few sensitive issues everyone faces some time or another in life. Shyness, embarrassment, fears about being judged or making parents or others adults angry and uncomfortable probably keep you from bringing up these kinds of personal matters. Inside these pages are tough, down-to-earth, no-nonsense, meaningful responses that we feel will make a real difference in the way you feel about yourself.
Publishers Description Answers to the tough questions in life that teenagers ask. No preaching, no rules, just rational responses to help teens cope with tough moral issues they face in life.

Following Christ is NOT for the faint of heart... or faith May 19, 2000
In contrast to the previous critic -- and for the same reasons - "20 Tough Questions Teenagers Ask : And 20 Tough Answers" is just that... TOUGH. But, not in a prejidical way. Frankly, if you do not want to know what the Pope and the Church have to say, then why would you pick up a book about Catholicism in tbe first place?
With two teenage daughters, I have become keenly aware of the impact of secular society on the mores and values of our kids. The big five are alive and well in epidemic proportions in our schools and in the lives of our kids: Smoking, Drinking, Drugs, Sex and Abortion.
It is serious and we need resources such as this one to help parents deal with these tough issues. The answers are faith-filled, love-filled. But, in the context of today's society - where God is a mere convenience - His expectations of us might well be considered unfair. Tough!
Baltimore Catechism Feb 27, 2000
If you are Catholic and looking for what answers the Pope has provided, this book is for you and your teen. This book is full of "don't do as I do - do as I say" such as "contraception within marriage is not within scope of this book" - No contraception SHOULD be used outside of marriage because there SHOULDN"T be any sex outside of marriage in the first place. "SHOULD" equals guilt. This book never satisfactorally answered any of the tough questions - the answers given are Catholic party line, Baltimore catechism propaganda direct from the Pope. In answer to the question "is it wrong to date someone who isn't Catholic?" the authors felt it was appropriate to point out that "in a marriage" there are "lines that simply can't be crossed" these include ethic, social and religious. If you are looking for Catholic doctrine this book is for you - otherwise it is offensive to the extreme.
