Thrilling Suspense story  Apr 27, 2006
Mandie is raised in a log cabin in Swain County. When her beloved father dies, she faces the facts:
1.her mother only loves Mandie's older sister, Irlene.
2.Poor as they are, all the money goes to Irelene's new dresses. 3. Mandie's mother didn't love her father (Mrs.Shaw rejoced over his death.)

After her mother remarries and Mandie is sent to work at a neighbors house, she is heartbroken. When she hears that her father has a brother in Franklin, she runs away with the help of her late father's good friend, Uncle Ned, an old Native American.

When she arrives at her Uncle's big house, she is devastated to hear that her Uncle has died overseas. Jason Bond, who has been looking over the estate, tells Mandie of a will that Mr. John Shaw (her Uncle) has written. This will may name Mandie the heir! With her new friend Polly, Mandie helps look for the will...but they find more than they bargained for...

Mandie books are my favorite!!!  Nov 14, 2005
Mandie's father has just died and her 'mother' remarries and Mandie is sent to work at a family's house to care for their baby. But Mandie's friend Uncle Ned helps her get to her uncle's house. But when Mandie gets there, she fins out that her uncle John died in Europe.Since Mandie's Uncle was a wealthy man, people start claiming to be kin to Uncle John so they can get money.Mandie and her new friend Polly discover a secret tunnel in John Shaw's house! So Mandie and Polly have to search for the will but they can't find it.Mandie's old friend Joe comes to visit her and he also helps them find the will too.One night they find John Shaw in the house! It turns out he didn't really die.He just wanted to see what would happen when he did die.He tells Mandie and her friends that there will be a big party for some unknown guests. When the guests do arrive,it turns out to be Mandie's real mother and her real grandmother!Mandie was seperated from her mother at birth because her grandmother didn't want her because she was part cherokee. So she told Mandie's mother that Mandie had died at birth and that Mandie's father didn't want to be married to her anymore. She also told Mandie's father that Mandie's mother didn't want to be married to him and he took Mandie with him to Swain County. At the end of the story,Uncle John and Mandie's mother get married.I thought it was sooo sweet when Joe asked Mandie to marry him!
