Reviews - What do customers think about A Killer Close at Hand?
The Dog Done It Nov 14, 2005
Well, not really. But it would be the sort of silly title that Liz Laighton would have given this review if she'd been the writer. Besides being a gripping mystery, this book is full of amusing wordplay and puns. The slang may be a little unfamiliar to the usual American reader, but because of this we hear the slang with fresh ears, and are struck with the aptness of these words. I like that the dogs are separate and interesting characters, that each human character has individual speech patterns and that the rhythms of sequence of scenes mimics the complex web of Things Not Said--the true culprit at the heart of this mystery. Highly recommended.
