Reviews - What do customers think about The Experts Speak Concerning Witness Lee and the Local Churches?
Truth based on the courts? Mar 19, 2007
If we're going to go that route, we would also have to say that OJ Simpson is innocent of murder. As to Neil Duddy's book, I have read it and I always found it interesting that Mr. Lee wouldn't go one on one with the guy, but instead took him to court. We'll see what happens in heaven to Mr. Lee when he faces the perfect judge and that's Jesus Christ. No hiding then for the Leester and he won't be able to take Jesus to court.
If you want to read really good books about faith (other than the Bible), read the writing of Billy Graham, Josh McDowell and J. Vernon McGee.

This book contains the sworn testimony of the expert witnesses at the trial of Lee versus Duddy et al that took place in the Superior Court of California in 1985. There are six experts in all, each representing different religious backgrounds, and they had studied the teachings and practices of Witness Lee and the local churches as well as the criticisms printed in the book "The God Men" prior to their testimony. Only five actually testified. The sixth witness did not testify, but his conclusions in a paper he wrote are reprinted in this book. The lawsuit had started in 1980 over libel present in the book "The God Men", and the damage it did via false and damaging accusations.
It might seem odd to some now, in this age where people pay more attention to every up and down tick of the stock market than to God, that one group of Christians would be suing another group of Christians over such things, but you must put this in historical perspective. "The God Men" was popular and coming into print about the same time that damaging cults such as "The Moonies" were making headlines with their mass weddings of automaton-like followers where bride and groom didn't even know each other, and then there was the horrendous mass murder/suicide of the Jim Jones' cult in Guyana that took place in late 1978. Since the local churches do now and have always attracted large numbers of high schoolers and college students, the damage that libel against the local churches did was horrendous since "The God Men" was read widely by concerned parents of those young ones that chose to meet with the local churches. I should know, I was one of those college students, and my loving and concerned parents heard and read the rumors, saw the headlines about people coming to bad ends in true cults, and a great deal of conflict ensued between us.
I just wish I had had this book for them to read to rid them of their fears. If you have doubts about the local churches and the rumors you've heard, I strongly advise you to read this book. Just remember there is often a big difference between typical and normal.

I was so happy to see this book come out --. Witness Lee and the local churches gives a facts based account of the beliefs of those that stand on the ground of the local church in each locality and of the dear man that gave his life to release the truth about God's heart and our purpose. Well done!

I have met Mr. Witness Lee personally and found him to be a a very gentle man. I have read some of his books. I think his theology can be misunderstood sometimes. This book can be of great assistance to those who have genuinely misunderstood Mr. Lee and or his writings.
