Overview Returning home to Daily, Texas, to help her father with a misbehaving horse that's supposed to be the star of a new Hollywood movie, Lauren Eldridge, the best horse trainer in the state, soon finds more than she bargained for when the movie's screenwriter turns out to be leading-man handsome. Original.
Publishers Description Lauren Eldridge had avoided returning home to Daily, Texas, until her father confesses to being in over his head. Paying back an old favor, he's invested in a horse that's supposed to be the star of a new Hollywood movie. Only the horse won't behave. And Lauren is the best trainer in the state. Convinced to return, she soon finds more than she bargained for when the movie's screenwriter turns out to be leading-man handsome. This movie may be Nate Heath's last shot at turning his career around. He didn't have high hopes at first, but the town of Daily may be just what everyone needs to find hope and healing. And maybe even a little romance.
From Publishers Weekly Evangelical Christian novelist Wingate introduced readers to the delightfully homespun what-you-see-is-what-you-get town of Daily, Tex., in Talk of the Town. In this sequel about the city's happenings and residents, Wingate expands upon the story line and offers readers more lovingly presented Texas talk, charm and romance. Wounded by the death of her husband, Lauren Eldridge is summoned back to Daily by her daddy, who's gotten himself into a financial pickle. Trying to pay an old debt by risking the ranch, Lauren's father asks his daughter to come home and tame a wild horse before the movie he's invested in starts shooting in Daily. Lauren's first instinct is to run anywhere but home. Still, she braves the emotional journey to help her father, remembering how he supported her after the accident that killed her spouse. What Lauren discovers back home amid familiar faces and places is forgiveness, love and a big, Texas-sized romance. Wingate's text is funny, to be sure, but a predictable story line detracts from what could have been a more poignant tale. (Feb.)Copyright 2008 Reed Business Information.

Excellent Apr 17, 2010
A wonderful story about a small town you can't help falling in love with, and a love story that will make you believe in true love. Lisa Wingate's works are well written, and proof that good fiction doesn't have to rely on sex, violence, and foul language to tell a story and keep an audience entertained. In fact, without all the "shock value" that is found in so much modern fiction, there's room to simply relax and enjoy quality writing and true human emotions, as well as spiritual awakening. Lisa Wingate is a unique and talented storyteller.
Wonderful book! Apr 1, 2010
This was a wonderful book. The story alternates between two points of view, which I loved. Seeing the story develop from a "his" and "hers" viewpoint was fun and kept me guessing. I walked around in a coma for several days due to late nights reading. I especially appreciated the sermon of the Good Horseman and also the tender relationship between father and daughter. Lisa Wingate is an author to watch!
Daily, Texas story #2 Mar 29, 2010
Lisa Wingate continues with new characters added to the tiny city of Daily, Texas. This book follows Talk of the Town where I fell in love with the folks in the place. It's a love story, however, it's more about strength, family, respect, and compassion. I truly loved this book and will continue on with story #3 Never Say Never. Thanks again Ms. Wingate for a wonderful story.
Funny, sweet, and with deeper meanings, too! Mar 25, 2010
What can I say? I have become a Lisa Wingate fan! In Word Gets Around, the small Texas town of Daily finds itself reeling under the sudden news that a movie will be filmed there. The reactions of people in Daily are laugh-out-loud funny, and this small town meets Hollywood combination is a blast. Once again, I stayed up reading way too late. This whole series is just the fantastic, and Word Gets Around has some deep messages about grief and forgiveness. No one combines humor, deep emotion, and spiritual messages that don't beat you over the head like Lisa Wingate does. She is my new favorite author!
