Reviews - What do customers think about High School Talksheets?
Good Old Talksheets. With Some Drawbacks. Feb 13, 2009
Just like all Talksheets of the past, these have some real benefits. They are short, simple, uncomplicated, and easy to use. They can be used in any order. You can go through all 50, or you can use just 1 and never pick up the book again. They force youth to actively engage the study at hand and not just listen to somebody preach at them.
There are also some drawbacks to this edition of Talksheets.
- The pages are not 8.5 by 11 inches. This makes copying difficult, which is obviously what the user is going to do with the book.
- Unlike Talksheets of the past, these are specifically about the Life of Jesus, as opposed to being about "Hot Topic" issues. I am all about teaching students about how Jesus lived here on earth, but Talksheets don't lend themselves as well to this topic as they do to topics such as popular music, divorce, and peer pressure. In previous Talksheet editions, the opening questions were always very open ended and engaging, drawing the students in through discussion of "hot topic" issues. In this edition, the first questions are often quite deep and to the point, making it more difficult to create buzz and excitement about the lesson.
In all, this collection of Talksheets is a real nice addition to the book case of any youth pastor. There are some good lessons you will find in here that are amazingly easy and low prep to pull off.
