Item description for The Sacrifice of Praise: Stories Behind the Greatest Praise and Worship Songs of All Time (Songs 4 Worship) by Lindsay Terry...
Overview Readers love the song "God Will Make A Way," but most do not know that it was written after unspeakable tragedy in the songwriter's life. "More Precious Than Silver" stays in the mind for days, but readers might be even more moved to learn that it was written when the songwriter finally accepted God's forgiveness for having broken a sacred vow. When readers know the story behind the song, their hearts will be moved to a higher level of praise and worship than even the song itself can provide. Read the inspiring stories that gave birth to fifty of today's most beloved worship songs, including "Shout to the Lord," "You Are My All in All," "Shine, Jesus, Shine," and "When I Look into Your Holiness."

The Sacrifice of Praise: Stories Behind the Greatest Praise and Worship Songs of All Times Jun 4, 2008
This is a terrific book for use as a devotional book or a resource book. I use it for both. As Music Director for my church, I often use some of the stories to share with the congregation just before we sing that praise song. Doing so, adds depth to their worship experience. It's well written and a great idea.
