Item description for The Marriage Journey: Preparations and Provisions for Life Together by Linda L. Grenz & Delbert Glover...
Overview Updated version of this classic resource for couples about to marry, those already married, and the congregations that support them, including new introductory material and a completely revised resources section.
Publishers Description The two authors of this book, Linda Grenz and Del Glover, say at the outset that they are ordinary Christians writing for ordinary Christians and ordinary congregations. So why has this book become a classic for couples about to marry, couples already married, and the congregations that support them? Because they approach the ordinary issues couples face in marriage from the life-experience perspectives of an Episcopal priest (Linda) and a former corporate executive (Del) who worked with people as they faced various family-related issues. They invite readers to use the book in ways that speak most directly to them and offer questions for the couple to discuss and others that engage a congregation. The book is interspersed with relevant quotes from scripture with probing questions for the individual to consider. Fantastic, the best yet Jan 23, 2004
This book is so good that my fiance and I read it cross atlantic. Me in London, him in Miami. Written for an intelligent audience it doesn't talk down to you. Love the clear and easy to use lay-out. Talks about hot topics in a succinct but complete manner.
Targeted at both Marriage preparation as well as for Marriage enrichment. We have started to use this book for reference.
A must read for anyone married or about to marry! Jun 14, 2001
When my wife and I decided to get married, our minister told us that we should read this book. I don't enjoy reading "self-help" books, and I was pleasantly supprised to find that this was not one of them. It really hit on all of the hot topics that a couple really NEEDS to discuss before they get married. It is written with Christianity in mind, but I believe it is useful for anyone considering marriage. We get it for all of our friends considering the marriage journey. It is a journey, one that lasts a lifetime. This book helps to pinpoint some of the stumbling blocks that might cause the journey to end before its time.
A concise, easy to read guide to marriage or marriage prep. Apr 22, 1999
I picked up this book to help me and my husband in preparing to present a marriage preparation course. It is wonderfully written and full of useful insights. We found the information most helpful and very complimentary to the materials we had already. It is written so that you can read one chapter at a time in the order that you wish. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in enriching their marriage as a couple or in a group or to anyone preparing for marriage.
