More About Alphonsus Liguori
St. Alphonsus Liguori was born in 1696 to Neapolitan nobility at Marianella, Italy. He became a recognizable lawyer after going through law school at the age of sixteen, but later decided to leave law in favor of giving his salvation more attention. Alphonsus joined the Oratory of St. Philip Neri as a seminarian and was ordained in 1726, when he was thirty. The homilies he gave had the special ability of converting those who had fallen away from the faith. He also founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, and authored such works as The Glories of Mary, The True Spouse of Jesus Christ, Attaining Salvation, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Preparation for Death Abridged, What Will Hell Be Like?, The Twelve Steps to Holiness and Salvation, and The Way of the Cross. After being a bishop for over a decade, St. Alphonsus Liguori died on the first of August, 1787. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1871. His feast is celebrated on August 1.

Reviews - What do customers think about Way Of The Cross (Pack Of 10)?
Excellent Version Aug 2, 2006
The Way of the Cross according to the method of St. Alphonsus Liguori is one of the most popular and best-loved Way of the Cross ever. Each station has traditional pictures of mosaics . The Stabat Mater is printed in both Latin and in English. This is the version I used to pray with my grandmother when I was young.
Traditional content - production poor Aug 27, 2000
Liguiori's Way of the Cross is the one most familiar. This edition primarily uses the traditional stations but has readings in the back for the Scriptural stations. The illustrations do not enhance the value of the pamphlet although they are of a traditional style. The format for each station is a responsory, an invitation to meditation, a prayer specific to the station, general prayers - Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be, ending with a verse of the Stabat Mater. This pamphlet does not include directions for the devotion but rather assumes that the gestures and prayers are well known. There are better versions available from Liguori Press.
