Reviews - What do customers think about Nubian Voyager: Echos : Poetry and Music from the Urban Edge (Echos)?
Great collaboration! Jan 14, 2007
This well-traveled genre is complimented with the voices brought together by the Afro-French duo Les Nubians. Knowing a maximum of 10 French words myself, the full meaning of half of this CD/book offering was lost on me, but from a melodic point-of-view it worked wonderfully. The book does represent poems in both English and French, so you can read along to get the full meaning if necessary. The book also has an inviting, artistic layout that features enticing visuals that compliment "lyrics" from each poem.
Subjects have been organized into 4 chapters: Motherland, Urban City Life, Love Stories and Spiritual Human Nature. Look (and listen) out for To The Queen by Jamarhl Crawford, one of several favorites contained in this volume of spoken-word artists discovered on the poetry casting call sponsored by Celia and Helene. The provocative music enhances the spirit of each spoken-word selection making this collaboration an enjoyable addition to any collection. Plus, 4 new selections from this dynamic duo are gratefully included. The vibrant, cool and edgy sounds we expect from Les Nubians are delivered.
Kudos to Les Nubians who continue to expand, explore and engage.
