Overview This book discusses in detail seven roadblocks that have prevented us from having a simple approach to the Second Coming of Christ. This book challenges the accuracy of many current, popular prophetical teachings by discussing topics such as the Rapture, Israel and the Church, the Tribulation Period, the signs of Jesus' Coming, and the antichrist.

Good Intro to Mainstream Eschatology for Charismatics Jan 26, 2010
Brittigham's book comes out of his dissatisfaction with premillenial dispensationalism, which is an almost universal given in Pentecostal/charismatic churches. (One could write a doctoral dissertation on how John Nelson Darby's ultra-cessationist system was taken up into the Azusa Street movement.) This is a helpful presentation of a more preterist amillenialism with an emphasis both on the historical events of the 1st century and the continuing spiritual realities in the church today. Having gotten this far, Brittigham does not tackle the issue of "hyperpreterism," but this is understandable in this short introduction. However, readers will likely want to read on from here, and will quickly run into the hyperpreterist books and websites. This extreme view is very dangerous and will shipwreck the faith of many, and in this day, it behooves writers on Christian eschatology to address it.
