Item description for Fights, Flights and the Chosen Ones: First-Second Samuel (Z Graphic Novels / Manga Bible) (v. 3) by Young Shin Lee, Brett Burner & J. S. Earls...
Overview The heroic and tragic battles of Israel's civil wars are portrayed through a cutting-edge style of art, relating Bible stories to budding Christians in a culturally relevant manner. Original.
Publishers Description Book Three focuses on the lives of Samuel, Saul, and David as depicted in 1 and 2 Samuel. It begins with the birth of Samuel, the last judge of Israel, who was called by God as a youth. As he grows older, the people call upon him to find a king for Israel, and the Lord directs him to Saul, whom he anoints as king. As Saul disobeys the Lord, Samuel is redirected to anoint a young David to be the new King of Israel. David serves the lord faithfully, though his reign over Israel is not without trouble or circumstance, as he must deal with enemies both outside and insides his borders ? not to mention his greatest battle--himself.

Great for kids Feb 15, 2009
My 11 year old son loves the series. Sure it's fun but he has actually learn a great deal of the Bible with the mangaBible series. I got him Vol 1 for Christmas and would not stop about when I was going to get him the next one. These days kids LOVE this kind of art as it is on all the animated series. The only bad thing I can say is that I wish they were in color but my son doesn't mind at all.
Manga Bible Books Sep 23, 2008
All these are great. The faster the guy writes them the better. My son hated to read at the beginning of the school year (early-August for us) and I am not kidding when I say these books helped to actually enjoy all kinds of reading. I bought the first one and two days later he asked me if there were more! Now he doesn't seem to mind reading books without pictures. It could just be he was ready to read more but I can't help but feel these books had something to do with it.
Manga Bibles Mar 25, 2008
This particular series is perfect for its recommended age group. My son can't put them down, and they are books- Bible no less. Very low tech, but perfect for the 9-12 crowd. It's hip enough to share with friends, yet book enough to please adults. We have enjoyed all books released so far from this series.
