Reviews - What do customers think about 2008: A Book of Grace-filled Days?
Little Book Mar 28, 2008
this is a small book, but the inspirations achieved from it are not. I received a book like this years ago from my child's school - a gift for volunteering. It got me actually reading my bible and I feel got me closer to where I wanted to be. It lists the daily scripture readings for the liturgical year, plus a starter idea to motivate. It does all this gently and at an easy pace.
Good but could be more contemporary... Nov 14, 2007
Like the previous reviewer, I too have used this book for a number of years. While the authors have a reflective statement each day, it tends to have a focus of "Jesus/God and me" with only rare references to contemporary social justice issues. It lacks any references to the great and contemporary social justice teachings of the Church. I would also like to see contemporary saints--Dorthy Day, Martin Luther King, JR., Mahatma Gandhi, Oscar Romero included, as well as those saints celebrated by other faith traditions--Anglican, Lutheran, Orthodox.
A daily blessing Sep 9, 2007
I have been collecting this series since 2001. What I like about it is that if follows the daily readings for the Mass and offers a verse for meditation. In addition there are daily reflections from the author which is a great spark for prayer or homily preparation. I highly recommend it and commend the authors.
