Reviews - What do customers think about The Funny Shape of Faith: Devotions for the Rest of Us?

As subtitle says: Devotions for the Rest of Us  May 14, 2008
For teens and older, this is a fine resource. It is more of a thought-provoking type of book than a traditional 'devotional' book. Lots of fine humor--both in the drawn cartoons and the word plays--that helps in remembering and gets one reflecting on aspects of faith and how it is lived.

A light, fun side of Christianity  Jan 17, 2008
This book is a wonderful way to experience a daily laugh (at ourselves, too). It is light but certainly has a message--good for teens and above. On occasion the cartoons need explanation to teens but they give you "food for thought".

No Christians over the age of children will find this book interesting.  Aug 27, 2007
Browsing before reading, I flipped to one page where the author was describing a conversation in a "Christian Sunday School in Saudi Arabia." Oops. There are no Christian Sunday Schools in Saudi Arabia. They would be illegal. Also, Bibles are not allowed in Saudi Arabia. The author goes on to write that Allah means the Holy Trinity in Arabic. No, it doesn't. So much for the author's knowledge about Islam or Saudi Arabia. But, the rest of the book has a kind of childish view of Christianity, too. There are really good books out there with humor about faith, but this book is not at their level. I would say that this book is not for anyone who has a high school education and has learned about Christianity as well. From my perspective, the devotions wouldn't be used by anyone in our church.
