Seeking Peace Jul 26, 2006
KNOW PEACE WITHIN by L. David Harris is a spiritual journey of a man who eventually finds the path to God. Although it was not an easy transition, life changes and undesirable temptations gradually made him realize that he needed God's guidance.
Many of us are forever seeking the inner peace to enjoy life and God's blessings. We all have experienced trials and tribulations and have overcome them or been defeated. KNOW PEACE WITHIN is an inspirational guide that will help you realize the power of the Lord is around us. You just have to reach out and absorb it by establishing a relationship with God.
Mr. Harris shares his life-changing experiences while growing up. He was molested by a family friend and kept that shame hidden for many years. During his growth and development years he was thrust into the "sowing his oats" era with no respect for himself or others. He had no examples or guides to lead him on a positive path; he only had what he saw others do and enticed him to do as well. He was living in a vacuum until finally, he was faced with the challenge of putting his life in God's hands. He's candid about the experiences that led him up to getting on the path of glorifying God and becoming a voice for God's ministry.
I enjoyed this book because we do have choices in life and we can make them willingly or unwillingly. How do we go about establishing a spiritual relationship and seeking inner peace? This book is written with a wonderful awareness to inspire us to get closer to God. It should be part of everyone's library to have on hand when you need inspiration to aid you in overcoming certain weaknesses within your daily lifestyle. It's not a one time read type of book, but one that you can read over and over at any given time. If you are going through a transition in your life, read KNOW PEACE WITHIN and it will help make that journey feel welcoming.

the book is a success Oct 5, 2005
"Know Peace Within - A Life in Transition" by L. David Harris, is likely the answer to the prayers of many Christians. Reaching out to the masses through this book, published by Xulon Press, Harris offers a hand up and a warm embrace.
Through anecdotes, interviews with pastors and quotes from the Bible, Harris touches on many challenges faced by Christians today. It is his intent to help readers through these challenges and in doing so, help them to a better relationship with God. He offers steps to be taken in building and rebuilding that relationship, a study of identity, and twelve Bible studies for peace among other chapters. He shares his personal stories and revelations with the intent to inspire readers to make a connection, see themselves, and make a change.
The writing in the book is personable, interesting and right on target. I was distracted by more than a handful of typos and misspellings and felt that the author could have done a better job in the mechanics of authorship. He seems to be filling a need with his work though and likely his readers will overlook these mistakes.
While I don't personally agree with the evangelistic content of the book, I can see that many Christians will feel otherwise and L. David Harris is doing what he is called to do. In that, the book is a success.
