Reviews - What do customers think about INGLÉS en 10 minutos al día® con CD-ROM (10 Minutes a Day)?
English for Spanish Speakers Jun 27, 2007
I have been using this workbook to tutor two young men. Their native langue is Spanish and while they do speak some English, they have never had any formal training in English. I like the book because the exercises are interesting and useful and the illustrations are very colorful. Many of the English words are written in Spanish also which I think has been very helpful to my students. Also, because I am a beginning Spanish student, we have a nice cross cultural experience which is a lot of fun.
Not for use in public school! Jun 13, 2007
As a public school teacher in Massachusetts, I find this book almost unusable. I make use of it only as outside-class reinforcement for Spanish speakers in my classes who need to acquire ONLY basic speaking skills quickly. Keep in mind, however, that the Spanish/English version contributes to a dependence on the student's first language, and its format & layout can be confusing. There aren't enough practice exercises in general, and it doesn't address any academic skills such as punctuation, capitalization, writing longer sentences/paragraphs or reading comprehension. Its saving grace is the pre-laminated reference sheet for common vocabulary and phrases. It would benefit from an accompanying CD or tape for speaking practice and reinforcement at the very least. Take care before you buy.
Pleasant, nonthreatening way to teach basic English skills. Jul 31, 2001
Each time I get a new Hispanic student with limited English proficiency, I purchase a copy of this book for him. My ESL students are all incarcerated men with various educational backgrounds. Even those students who have very limited skill in reading Spanish have found this book helpful. One student carried the removable fold-up phrase card in his pocket daily for a couple of months. I would not suggest using this text as the sole teaching material in a classroom setting, but it can serve as an invaluable teaching/learning aid.
Excellente Mar 28, 2000
This is an excellent book for teaching hispanic children and/or adults to learn alot of basic English language. It gives good examples and utilizes them in situations so the pupil may learn at their own pace.
Excellent- Not exactly Mexican Spanish nor Texas English but Nov 2, 1999
I have taught Spanish for a long time and this is excellent for the Adult students I am now teaching English.
