SANAA: Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa Zollverein School of Management and Design, Essen, Germany
Edited by Kristin Feireiss
The latest spectacular project by the avant-garde architectural firm SANAA---designers of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in Manhattan---is the building that will house the Zollverein School of Management and Design in Essen, Germany. The cube-like building fuses the site's industrial past with its aesthetically driven future. This study of the structure and its designers includes drawings, plans, and models that depict the complexity of the project. It chronicles the development of the building's concept and construction and includes enlightening interviews with the architects.
Kristin Feireiss is a freelance curator of architectural exhibitions. She has edited numerous books on architecture and urban culture, including Informal City: Caracas Case (Prestel).
