Stand Bible Studies in Corinthians is a Blessing Apr 13, 2007
The Apostle Paul wrote much of what we know today of the New Testament. His writngs consist of letters that he penned to the various churches he had founded in his missionary journies. If you are like me, you might find Paul's writing somewhat hard to understand and follow. Therfore, having a guide to follow, something that explains the thoughts behind Paul's words, is a blessing to the Bible student. This study in Corinthians is a valuable lesson on Paul's letter to the ver carnal Corinthian church. Corinth was a major Roman town in the time of Paul, and the city paid homage to many gods. There was cult worship, prostitution was rampant, (even in worshipping the gods), and there was little knowledge of Jesus' life. Paul planted a church in Corinth and this is his letter to them explaining how they should conduct their lives as new Christians living in the center of a pagan world.
I have enjoyed this study very much, and have learned so much more than I ever would have on my own. Paul's letters have deep meaning and this study brings out his intent clearly.
I truly appreciate the Standard Bible Studies series, as they are simple for the layperson to read, yet, there is still so much to be learned. As will all the Standard Bible Studies, this is a good foundation, a good place to start studying the Bible. The study is by no means comprehensive, nor does it intend to be, but it is invaluable to the layperson who wants to learn what Paul has to say to the Corinthian church and how that message is still applicable to today's world.
