Reviews - What do customers think about A Pastor's Poetry?

A Man of God  May 9, 2006
Kenny Walden's "A Pastor's Poetry" brings a refreshing honesty to the telling and retelling of a young pastor's journey. This is not about a time when a boy becomes a man, but rather when a man becomes a man of God. Kenny shares this transformation with us as he becomes a man of God whose kindness, warmth, humor and love for others and God shines. His work made me laugh, and cry, too.

Praise for A Pastor's Poetry  Apr 17, 2006
Pastor and scholar Kenny Walden celebrates the African American church experience with profound insight in this brief collection of poetry and social commentary. From the very beginning of the first of two poetry sections it becomes very clear to the reader that this man of God and member of the academy loves his people dearly. His keen insight into the hearts and lives of his brothers and sisters both in and out of Christ reveals an intense love for shining the Gospel light into the very depth of their life journeys.

His ability to articulate their struggle is further held in dialogue in the essay section in very much the way that a teacher injects brief conversation starters with her students. All in all, I recommend this book to any child of God who wants to more intimately feel the hand of God in their lives. Kudos to pastor and scholar Kenny Walden and may this be the first of much fruit of his to come.
Great, even for a non Christian  Feb 6, 2006
I bought the book because I know the author. Then I actually took time to read it. The messages conveyed go beyond a Christian perspective. It was an eye opener that speaks to younger people in their own language. Not old and stuffy the way many of us feel religion is.
The Deacon  Jan 31, 2006
Kenny's book reflects his life and his experiences as a minister, a seeker, a husband and a military chaplain. One sees in his writings a man who struggles with life's issues and one who is spiritual.
Very spritual,informative, enlightening, with a sneak-peep inside the pastor's life.  Dec 14, 2005
I found this book to very well written and good advise to me and others on how to see the world as a good christain. Rev kenny j walden answers conflict questions on serving god and country as a soldier in the airforce. His book can be used for people who are starting out in relationships, reading the bible and one's who loves poetry. I also feel where ever he was in the world travelling and giving a sermon i was with him and his compansions.

thank you for writing this book mr k.j. walden,

josif clark
