A Scholarly Presentation of Faith Principles Oct 30, 2003
In the past several years there have been several books written for the express purpose of criticizing the faith message. Among the many unfounded criticism were those that claimed that the faith messaged lacked a coherent or consistent hermeneutic. These criticism attempted to portray faith teaching and its advocates as uneducated, heretical, and abberrant preachers who had no ability to exegete a Scripture text. The picture that was and is often painted by faith critics is that there is a lack of scholars among those who advocate faith principles.
Dr. Ken Chant's book is proof that such criticisms are unfounded. Dr. Chant presents Biblical Faith principles in a scholarly manner. Yet, while this book does indeed have a scholar's touch, it is far from being dry or dead. This book presents the living Word of God concerning faith in a way that will excite its reader. Though Dr. Chant (who has an "earned" doctorates) does not necessarily align himself with the Faith Movement, he teaches the same Biblical principles with a touch of intellectualism that is not to often found among many well known proponents of the faith message.
This book discusses the necessity of faith, the place that Scripture has in imparting faith, and the purpose of verbally expressing one's confidence in God (what is commonly known as a "psoitive confession"). You will be blessed by Dr. Chant's scholarly exegesis of Romans 4:17. Also Dr. Chant, who has studied the original Bible languages, does an excellent job of explaining the differences between the Greek words "logos" and "rhema." He also does a masterful job of explaining Hebrews 11:6.
Dr. Chant's aim is to help his readers become "Mountain Movers" (Mark 11:23). After reading this book you will sense yourself equipped for the mountain moving experience.
