Faith didn't realize that her life was about to change forever. Faith Martin never imagined any other life than the one she was leading on her family's little farm outside of Birchwood, Missouri. But as the year 1855 unfolds, her family makes a life changing decision that forces them all into the vast unknown. But when Faith and her younger brother find themselves in the hands of brutal outlaws with no hope of deliverance, her will to go on almost fails her. An Up-and-coming Author! Aug 8, 2009
Katie McCurdy's book, Journey of Faith, is a fun read. I recommend it especially for pre-teens and older children because it was written by a teenager with an astounding amount of insight into human nature.
Katie successfully mingles interesting 1850s everyday life with times of action and excitement. Her views of a loving, caring family has a calming, homey effect which makes the dangerous situations that much more shocking.
Journey of Faith starts out rather slowly, with the Martin family preparing to move West so that Mr. Martin can begin a cattle ranch. The main character, 14 year old Faith, struggles the most with the move, but graciously adjusts to her circumstances when she learns that there is no turning back. The book travels with her by covered wagon, using both her experiences and her daily diary entries...a clever device by the author. About a third of the way into the story the pace begins to quicken. By the time I was halfway, I was unable to stop reading until it was finished.
Journey of Faith is an excellent first novel by a teenaged author. It is not without errors, but it is enjoyable and spiritually profitable, especially for young people.
WHAT A GOOD BOOK! May 7, 2009
"Journey of Faith" is a wonderful story richly based on Christian values and Godly principals. Told in a fashion similar to the Little House Books, the author takes the reader to a time and place far removed from today's selfish society and illustrates through example how one can simply follow the teachings of Christ. This book is mostly light-hearted and seemingly carefree, but McCurdy will surprise you with twists and turns that you will not expect. Filled with family devotions, an Indian attack, horseback riding, and a ruthless band of outlaws, Journey of Faith is sure to delight readers of all ages. An excellent family read." A tribute to a young girls loyalty to her family and to her God. Apr 13, 2009
True Colors Katie has a definite talent for writing and sharing details of a close knit family. A charming story, and I wish her God's blessing on her future books. A little closer attention needed to volcabulary in the ninteenth century but otherwise a brilliant read for teenagers.

Faith Martin lives close to her faith: Jan 22, 2009
Katie is a fine author with her book: Journey of Faith. Faith Martin is very anxious as her family moves from the only home she knows for the wilds of Wyoming. She is a true pioneer girl who is sure and strong in what she knows and believes. Her family is her focus and she is strong in the times of trials and tribulations that she experiences. As I got to know the characters I felt like they were people that I knew that were strong in their faith. (Their very names also reflect those values.) When times grew tough, Faith rose to the occasion and she is a great role model for our age: today.
There must be a great deal of Katie in the "Faith" character! She has a big future ahead of her and she is quite insightful in writing her book. You feel like that you are really the in the time and place that you are visiting. Our future is great as we have people like her to become our future leaders, and members of our society. Read her book and you will be looking forward to her next works. She portrays proper family values, and by living in harmony by living close to the Lord.
This book is good for all ages, and is suitable for libraries, public and home schools. I look forward to reading this book to my grand daughters, Hailey and Zoe when they come to visit soon. Your children, and you yourself, as an adult will enjoy this interesting story. Thank you, Joe Blevins-Author of The Texas Republic, After the Republic, Gone to Texas. After the Republic
WONDERFUL BOOK!! Aug 26, 2008
SUPER JOB!!! I really felt like I was in the story not reading the book. (Until my neck started hurting!) Again, I could tell that Katie worked and planned the whole thing out. I would defiantly recommend this book to anyone who likes reading! I also liked the relationship between Faith and Ben Martin. Both the Rattlesnake and the kidnapping stories where very interesting and exciting parts! I think the family is a lot like yours, (I know you planned that, but I think you did a great job with it.) So over all I thought it was a wonderful book, I really enjoyed it! And I am looking forward to the next one! GREAT JOB, KATIE!!
