Item description for Lay Presiding: The Art of Leading Prayer (American Essays in Liturgy, 7) by Kathleen Hughes...
Overview This book is a guide for "reluctant presiders." It is devoted to parents learning to bless their children, loved ones visiting the sick, participants asked to open or close a meeting, dinner guests invited to bless God at the table, family or friends longing to comfort one another at a wake service, sponsors initiating catechumens into the ways of Christian prayer, and for the wider band of disciples who are shy because they are untrained or even unwilling to call such a simple event "presiding."
