Reviews - What do customers think about Instant Library Lessons: First Grade (Instant Library Lessons)?
Lessons are too dependent on specific resources Aug 22, 2007
Being a fairly new media specialist, I ordered several books of lesson ideas and resources last year - including all 3 of the "Instant Library Lessons" books. Although the lessons are detailed clearly with plenty of support materials, they are so specific to the books and videos the author used that I didn't have time to make the necessary adaptations. My budget couldn't afford to order the necessary books and videos for me to pull the lessons off the way they are written either. I figured up the amount of $ it would cost to implement these lessons and it was staggering! So even thought these are billed as "instant library lessons", unless you have the exact books and videos the author used, the lessons are not really useful without a lot of extra prep and modification. I was just way to busy for that! It was easier for me to write up my own lessons from scratch or look in other librarian lesson guides! For example, a book's lesson may have little pictures for the students to cut out and color to use to retell the story. These are not useful if you don't have the exact book. In my case I used my "Stretchy Library Lessons" series of books (also available thru this site) extensively and recommend them instead of this series.
helpful but... Mar 13, 2007
This book was very helpful for giving ideas but should you not have one of the books suggested for the lesson it is difficult to find a substitute.
