Item description for Partners in the Process: The Formation of Deacons' Wives by Karen A. Hameyer & Maria Thompson Maclaughlin...
Overview Many women do a lot of soul-searching when their husbands feel called to become deacons. This book describes how forty-eight wives of deacons from varying educational levels, ages, and lifestyles came together and grew into a cohesive unit after one diocese started a diaconate-formation program. While their husbands progressed through their own period of formation these women helped form each other to accept and live their newly acquired role in the Church as Deacons' wives. Even though diaconate programs are unique to each diocese, the issues, emotions, and rewards these authors experienced will resonate with women everywhere who find themselves in similar circumstances.
Publishers Description While their husbands progressed through their own formation program, these women helped one another accept and live their newly acquired role in the Church as deacons' wives.

I knew my wife had concerns about her role as a deacon's wife. I knew that her understanding and approval would be essential to my calling. I was pleased to find this book, though before reading it I wasn't sure if the content would "scare off" my wife. I read it before giving it to her. It helped me better understnd her concerns, since almost all wives have the same ones. I found out that wives had different ways of coping and that they were not called to be deaconesses. My wife felt more informed and at ease after reading this book. She read it in one sitting! She is now sharing it with other wives of Inquirers in my Discernment group.

Excellent book. Wives of aspirants should really give this a glance. It went through all the aspirant's wives of my class and everyone could relate to it.
