Item description for New Generation Of Manga Artists Volume 5 (New Generation of Manga Artists) by Kao Yung...
These are collections of artwork by Kao Yung & Kuan-Liang, leading Taiwanese Manga artists. Their drawing style has been influenced by Japanese manga and anime. However, their artwork shows their own originality. For example, their characters have the look of Chinese heroes and heroines. Those exotic characters should attract many manga fans. The book contains 64 color illustrations in the first half; one third of the artwork has never been published before and was especially drawn for this book. The second half of the book features from the artists tips on creating artwork. These black and white pages present not only the completed designs, but also rough sketches, thoughts at the creation stage, and comments from the artist, as well as the artist's sources of inspiration.

Reviews - What do customers think about New Generation Of Manga Artists Volume 5 (New Generation of Manga Artists)?
Great artbook, despite a misleading cover. Jun 26, 2008
If you look at this book and think it's full of beautiful and colorful images of women, you'll be half right: While beautiful and colorful, they aren't usually women. After looking through this for the first ten to twenty pages, I had to look at the cover again to see if they weren't actually very feminine men.
Despite the false advertising on the cover and my preference for men to be, well, manly... this is a book that I highly recommend, especially considering how cheap it can be to pick up if you look hard enough. None of the images are static or lifeless, they all are colorful and well detailed with great composition.
The only thing that could have made this book better was if they had slipped the cover image inside the book, and chosen a much more appropriate bishonen image for the cover. It would have caused much less confusion for both those like myself who were looking for women in fantastic costumes and for others who were looking for bishonen images.
Beatiful digital art ! Jun 11, 2007
I bought this and havent Ever Regeted it! The art is BEATIFUL!!! Theirs Beautiful woman and Hansome men who are sometimes shirtless. His eyes are goregus in all the illustrations. The back is very helpful. I completely want to Buy the Manga he draws for!
Nice art Dec 5, 2005
The colors in this book are beautiful. The artbook features just as many men as there are women. The style seems a little repetitive- some of the hairstyles are the same, and the eyes are all very similiar. The pictures all have different settings- some in feudal Japan, some present day. A few bishounen. There are 64 color pictures followed by 15 pages of the black and white sketches of some of the pictures and the artist's comments on them. (All the pictures are by the same 2 artists) It's a nice book to have. I was pleased with it when I bought it.
