Tons of great ideas! Feb 2, 2007
I think the book is great. It's full of simple, easy ideas that can keep kids learning and entertained. I keep it around the house for inspiration when I'm feeling like I'm lacking in the "ideas" department. Even my older children like flipping through the book for ideas. I give it 5 stars!
Not What I'd Hoped Jun 3, 2006
I was hoping for a book full of inexpensive curriculum ideas, or resources that were new to me. Instead the book discusses family budgeting at length, and makes suggestions that seemed to be common-sense to me. There are a few ideas that may end up being useful, but be warned that much of the book is devoted to budgeting and other advice (buying things used, using the public library, etc.)or anecdotes from homeschool parents.
Thanks for the ideas! Aug 24, 2004
Our family has found this book extrememly informative. We are a family living on a budget and this book gave us some really helpful hints on how to stretch that budget. We've already set up our library at home by subject and found it easier to find the book you want at a glance. There are many ideas on low-cost or free field trips, materials, and curriculum. This is a great resource book for anyone who is homeschooling.
Great for all parents! Jun 28, 2002
This book is great for all parents...even if they choose not to homeschool. It gives great advice and ideas for cutting corners in "regular" life to allow room in the budget for homeschooling. I am new in my research of homeschooling but I have read at least 10 books in the last 6 months on the topic and this is tie for first place on my list! A MUST for anyone concerned about "finding" the money to homeschool!
A must read Dec 12, 2000
I loved this book so informative. This book is for anyone feeling they dont feel they would be able to homeschool. It gives alot advice and how to live on one income, starting your own library, and information on college. It also gives alot of freebies or low cost alternatives. This book may be the one to convince my husband that homeschooling is the right choice.
